Video, stereo soundscape
The collection of poems Ingiustizia (1907) and other texts by Istrian poet, writer, teacher and revolutionary Giuseppina Martinuzzi inspired this work. The video was first shown at the 4th Industrial Art Biennial in Lamparna, Labin (May-July 2023) as part of the multimedia installation Common Ground. The Capital, this big sonorous word that for over a century has been overwhelming all other words; this monstrous god venerated by all people, and before which there are no atheists nor sceptics; this omnipotent force that makes the most brilliant intellects ponder, that arouses occult energies and transforms them into enormous enterprises; that reduces to dust and annihilates anything in its path; this idol that fills the heart of all businessmen, that even substitutes love in marriage; this capital that seizes all the honors for itself, how was it born? How does it grow? What does it feed on?

Il Capitale, questo parolone sonoro che oltre un secolo sovranneggia tutti I vocaboli; questo dio mostruoso venerato da tutte le genti, e dinanzi al quale non ci sono ne’ atei ne’ sciettici; questa forza onnipotente che fa pensare I piu’ alti intelletti, che suscita energie occulte e le traduce in imprese gigantesche; che atterra ed annienta tutto cio’ che vorrebbe esserle d’inciampo; questo idolo ch’empie il cuore di tutti gli affaristi, che sostituisce perfino l’amore nel matrimonio; questo capitale che ha per se’ tutti gli onori, come nasce egli? Come cresce? Di che cosa si alimenta?
